Chimezie Mbachi, M.D. – Core Faculty

Dr. Chimezie Mbachi is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist with Tennova in Knoxville, Tennessee where he lives and practices. After graduating top of his class from the University of Nigeria; Dr Mbachi continued his career in medicine first as a medical officer in Navy Hospital Lagos, Nigeria. Following that, he completed a residency in internal medicine at Cook County Hospital; Chicago. Subsequently, he completed his fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital, CT. During his stay at Yale, he worked under direct supervision of Dr Guadalupe Garcia where he was the Principal Investigator for several hepatology research projects.

During Dr Mbachi’s stay he has helped to build a quality focused gastroenterology and hepatology program. He has also been a preceptor and adjunctive faculty member of Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, continually contributing to the academic and clinical development of medical students. He is a current fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.In his spare time, Dr. Mbachi loves soccer and enjoys time with family.
